This is my blog about my medical journey through Lymphoma. I was diagnosed April 11, 2006. Currently, I am in remission with a high chance of cure. It was non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, specifically Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma. The tumors ended up being in my hip, my sternum and my backbone. I have left the blog up for anyone to read, and I also use it to remember all I went through. Because of all the drugs and stress, some of it is foggy, so it is fun to go back and see what I went through!

Rehab Doctor Visit

I saw Dr. King the Sports Medicine doctor today to follow up from my Dr. Mohler visit. The point of the visit was to review my post-treatment x-rays so that he can give me an idea of how to rehab my hip. He told me that he does agree with Mohler that I have an increased chance of needing a new hip in 30-50 years, but he said it is not a sure thing. He also said that I am sure to have some arthritis, but I realized today that "arth" just means "joints", and I already knew "itis" was irritation, so arthritis is just irritation of the joints. Basically, it just means my hip hurts, and I already knew that.

The biggest bummer of what he said is that I shouldn't try jumping for something like 6 months. The rehab plan is simply to slowly strengthen the hip. He said that the more pain-free movement of the joint, the better, but it is bad to jar it.

Big day tomorrow, the 6 month PET scan to make sure I remain cancer-free.

:( i'm sorry you can't jump for 6 months...although you would probably cheat and then i'd get mad at you. does this mean you and greg can't do the doubles thing? :(. good luck on your 6 month anniversary tomorrow...i'll ask you about it at pracy tomorrow. and i dont know why i'm suddenly doing "..." a lot. anyway, good luck, feel better, and i'm sure you'll have lots to say tomorrow on how my team is now 47th and not even in the metallic colors divisions anymore. joy.
