This is my blog about my medical journey through Lymphoma. I was diagnosed April 11, 2006. Currently, I am in remission with a high chance of cure. It was non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, specifically Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma. The tumors ended up being in my hip, my sternum and my backbone. I have left the blog up for anyone to read, and I also use it to remember all I went through. Because of all the drugs and stress, some of it is foggy, so it is fun to go back and see what I went through!

6 Months Cancer-Free!

The PET scan I got this morning was my 6 month check-up since I finished chemo last August. The PET scan is the one where I go to Nuclear Medicine and they inject me with radioactive glucose and where they look for increased metabolism throughout my entire body because cancer cells metabolize a lot. I already got my results because I have good friends.

They found no increased metabolism and therefore no cancer. I like not having cancer.

The next PET scan will be in 6 more months, my one-year no-cancer anniversary. That will be in August. After that is typically a yearly check until 5 years and then I am called "cured."

This is great news!

I am starting to know what you mean when you say you felt like a lab rat. I was hospitalized last week and the gave me a CT, ultrsound, and PET scan trying to figure out what I have. But that PET scan... man, I had a hard time staying still for 45 minutes with my arms over my head. Today, I had a biopsy and get my results next week.

Hopefully, I won't have to start one of these blogs but I am glad you still write here.
